Hello!
How are you doing today? Doesn’t it feel like Spring is in the air? I have started changing my det and introduce more Spring foods, fresh pressed juices and smoothies. I wanted to help you do the same by giving you the grocery list of Spring purifying foods.
In Asian medicine, the spring is the time of the year where one needs to nurture the liver and the gallbladder and other supportive organs such as heart,, small intestines, spleen, pancreas and stomach to a lesser extent. The liver regulates the qi and blood storage and circulation. The spring season is also associated to emotions such as anger and anxiety, if the body’s out of balance and the liver congested/overloaded. To this effect, I recommend that you eat more foods that are pungent (spicy like garlic, onion, ginger, and if tolerated black pepper and cayenne pepper), astringent and bitter in the spring to help reduce water retention, excess fat and mucus and prepare you for the cold and rainy Spring season.
